Wheelie bin and done it this time
Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe landed our catch on Tuesday evening, all was going well, getting our jobs done in good time, so we went up to take ice. As we travelled up the habour and approached the ice works, I felt a shallow thud, so I knocked the boat out of gear as I wasn't sure what it could be, but something had obviously hit the propellor. We took our ice as planned and I phoned up Gus, who does a fair bit ofdiving and he said he would be down first thing in the morning.
With it being a new propellor I was feeling quite worried about what it could have been hitting the blades, but we dared not move the boat as we weren't sure if it was still in there or not.
Gus came down early the next morning, after topping up his bottles with air and went down in the waster to have a look. We weren't sure what to expect, maybe some gill net or a rope, but he eventually came to the surface with a wheelie bin!
So if you live at 35 Fore street in Newlyn - I have your bin!
That being said luckily there was no damage, so we sailed again not long after Gus had finished.
