Unsettled Week Ahead

Published in Untagged  by davidstevens

We landed our last trip on Sunday morning and had 145 boxes of Cuttles and Haddocks and a bit of prime, for our 3 days to the SW of the Lizzard.

It blew a Southerly 9 Sunday night into Monday but the wind droppped away quickly through the day so we prepared the boat and headed off  on Monday evening. As we approached Tater-Du lighthouse (Lamorna) we encountered a huge swell so thoughtit best to return to Newlyn to turn in for a few hours. We got away again at 0400hrs this morning, and shot at the Wolf, with the weather being so unsettled this week we thought we would try somewhere handy so as not to waste time steaming so far from shore. The problem was we had no idea what fish were here as we've not shot here for a couple of months, we're hoping there would be some Haddock and Gurnard to see us through......

Luckily in the first haul we had 10 boxes of Haddock, 6 of Gurnard and 10 of other fish. The second haul we hit the jackpot and  had 40 boxes - mainly Haddocks and are hoping for more of the same tonight.

As the forecast is looking poor we're hoping to get a bit of fish aboard - and are grateful they seem to have swum closer to the shore this week!!
