Unpredictable Low
Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe sailed yesterday morning and shot after a couple of hours steaming, the forecast was giving the wind cyclonic then going northerly 10, which is off the land so we thought we would be alright for the night.
Unfortunatly for us the low moved further north and west than predicted and we had an increasing ssw wind. The wind wasn't flying to the north as predicted so when the wind reacheda force 9 we boarded the gear and we made a run for home. It was a poor run in with the already heavy swell becoming steep with the following ssw wind, luckily we were steaming fore to the wind so the ride wasn't to bad.
We got in to Newlyn in the early hours of this morning and by then it was a good storm of wind, so we were glad to tie up for the night and turn in for a few hours.
We were awoken as daylight came in, by the gulls plodding around the deck picking through our nets as we didn't have time to clean them out last night as it was to poor to stay on deck.
The cameraman from the BBC was unable to get any shots as it was to poor to work the camera and he didn't feel to good,( not suprising really.) We are hoping to sail again tomorrow morning as the wind eases from the north, lets hope we can finally get a few days fishing in.
