Summer arrives at last
Published in Untagged by davidstevens
The summer squid fishery arrived at the wolf in the last few weeks, on time unlike the weather which although has been more settled the last couple of weeks its hardly summer. But at least we have stopped rolling around so much and were having good fishing for a change. The squid has been fetching a good price due to strong demand on the continent which is also helping. We use our big net to catchthe squid as they live on rougher ground and the mouth of the net opens hihger so we have a greater volume of water going through it, also we save fuel as towing the larger net takes less power than towing our twin rig gear, which keeps the exspenses down. Last year there was haddocks to go with the squid but they havn't turned up at the wolf yet but there out there somewhere with the big tide coming up I'll be unable to work the wolf so il have hunt for them next trip.
