Poaching? Not Guilty

Published in Untagged  by davidstevens

We have been working to the south of the scillies in the last week, the fishing has been up and down, with 2-3days of good fishing, then 2-3days of slacker fishing.

It was all becoming a bit dull, until early one morning we hauled and had a huge suprise in our nets, we had a lovely salmon which weighed about 3kg. I have never caught a salmon whilst at sea before in the time that I have beenfishing, so I asked my dad and he has never seen a salmon in his 45years at sea. So I'd say for a trawler it must be quite a rare sight.

The only problem that we had, is that it is against the law to land them this time of year, so we had no option but to eat it. I put my hands up and I'll confess to this crime as it did taste rather good.

The one show rang up last week and they are doing a feature of fishing and how it is enforced next week on their show, the reporter will be going out onboard HMS Tyne for the day to see how they go about patrolling the sea's. So look out for that sometime next week 1900hrs week days BBC 1.
