No Go This November
Published in Untagged by davidstevensThe poor spell of weather is set to continue this weekend and with them giving sothwest 8-9 again tomorrow it looks like Alec will be blown in again. the fishing hasn't been to bad with a few haddocks and nice bit of flat and monk, but its not big fishing just picking away.
The prices are holding up which is good, but supplies have been short recently, so they should be ok this time whenwe land I hope.
We are about to start a new scienentific project soon, with the team from CEFAS (Big John and Rob) coming aboard to measure our catch and to use technical measures on our nets to limit the amount of discards.
We have a very low discard rate anyway, and the rate for marketable species is non existant, which we are proud of. It is always good to try and keep working hard to tackle envoiromental problems and working with the scientists is the only way to do this. In fact this happens right accross the industry with many fisherman in different areas taking scientists to sea, but it's a shame that the good work the fisherman do very often goes unreported.
The fish will be on sale on Fridays market at PTA, there has been a change to the catch onboard section, il will put the date of landing on the home page but for the detailed catch if you contact me il be able to tell you how to access this information.
