New Shaft
Published in Untagged by davidstevensThe shipyard and the paint gang have been busy in the last few days working on the boat. They have stripped off the old paint on the hull and have started to paint the top deck. The workers from the yard have taken off the old prop and nozzel, but when they removed the main drive shaft it was showing quite a bit of wear on the key way, so we have to have a new shaft made. the shaft as you can imagineis quite large and will take quite a lathe to turn it up, but we needn't worry macduff have it all on site and they will have one ready by the end of the week.
The chippys have been down the fishroom and we are putting in new shelving so that when we are at sea our boxes will fit more snuggly in the hold. The engineers have been busy down the engineroom fitting new sea cocks and new pipes conecting them to the engines and pumps.
It has been nice to get all the niggly jobs done now that we have time to do it up the yard, so hopefully at this rate it won't take long to get the Crystal Sea ship shape again.
