Published in Untagged by davidstevensHi all the catch was landed yesterday and I have to admit to being dissapointed the price of haddocks was well down on what they should have been, we averaged 93p kg which is quite poor for a goodrun of haddock, it should have been 1.30kg at least average and as we landed just over 5tonnes that is a huge loss. As always the team at plymouth trawler agents tried there best but they said it was justa little bit to much volume as my friend Andy on the Defiat also landed he had 3 tonnes. This is one of the reasons we started this site to put the information into the system before the fish reaches the market so i think more marketing needs to be done in this area to stop this happening as the cost to rent in and ice box and sell the haddocks is around 30p kg so we must recieve a better price, but it wasn't all doom and gloom the other species fetched a good price.
The boat sailed again early tuesday Alec has the boat away this trip its been poor and he is targeting John dory haddocks and squid so were hoping due to the lack of boats away this trip that due to the poor weather we will get a better price for our catch if not il rant again on my blog.
