Lets All do the Conger
Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe sailed on monday this week and headed to the western fishing grounds, we had good fishing of Blonde rays this week, they usually set in this time of year and the catches were quite steady. We were also seeing many other winter species coming on the ground, there were witches, soles, sand soles and congers, as you can imagine we were chasing the congers allover the deck, but we did manage to round them up.
We had fished well for 2days then on wednesday, the morning started well then it started to freshen hard and within a couple of hours it was blowing easterly 8-9, so we went to haul our nets and as we did we shiped a huge sea which came aboard clean and green, Janis And Girts were back aft working and they ended up to their necks in water. I glad to say they were all ok but were soaking wet, we got the nets onboard then headed for home then Jan and girt had to change their clothes.
We got in wednesday afternoon then landed our catch to PTA for thursdays market. Alec had the boat away on thursday morning, but late last night the wind blew hard again from the north 8-9 so after 2hauls he came back in again, but he is hoping to be away again tomorrow morning.
