Every cloud has its silver Dory

I'm glad to report that doctor fish has been to visit the good ship Crystal Sea and the crew are feeling much better, we have been working to the south of the Scillies by 15-20miles and with a bit more tide in the water the fishing has improved.

The summer Haddocks have started, they are a good run and nice and fat. The Dory fishing has been good as well and yesterday we had a silverDory amongst our catch. The silver Dory is very much like the usual greeny-gold ones we catch but has a silver-grey look to it, it is also thinner and more triangular than its native cousin. It is not unusual to see one, we maybe see 2 or 3 a year, but they live in deeper water and generally prefer more southern waters.

The Squid season has also started and they have had some good catches off Lundy and also quite a bit on the grounds off Rockall. The Squids only have a short life span, only living 2 years, but they grow very quickly indeed and you can see them getting bigger each week you fish them.

We are due to land our catch for Fridays market and with the lack of fish coming ashore just recently we are hoping for some good prices......
