Early End To The Year

Published in Untagged  by davidstevens

We were out fishing on thursday and we were planning to carry on until monday as the weather was fine and although the fishing was slack the prices had been good up until then. Then we got a fax from PTA calling us in early to land on Fridays market as the prices were starting to fall away quickly.

So on thursday afternoon we steamed  in and landed what we had for the 3daysthat we had been away for and called that it before Xmas.

The fishing had been slack the last couple of weeks, typical we had good fishing right through the autumn up to the end of November and when the weather fined away in december the fish slacked off.

The season is on the change now and we have lost the autumn fishery and this is just the slack period before the winter fish comes on the ground. We have seen a huge amount of palagic fish start to flood onto the grounds now with a lot of joey mackerall and scads turning up.

The Anchovies are still hanging around and after a few hits off salcombe then St. Austall bay, they have now moved west and a few had been caught right up on the beaches in Falmouth. This has been a welcome boost for the local ring netters who have been chasing them for a mounth now.

We may get away between Xmas and new year if its a fine forecast, but I would like to thank you all for following the Crystal sea Blog and for your emails and wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year
