Cuttles Still Hanging On
Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe are away to the south of the Lizzard this week by 20-30miles and are still seeing quite a few Cuttles, which is unusual so late in the year. They are normally heading back to the estuarys by now to breed, but this year they seem to be taking their time in doing so. We are also seeing quite a few more Whiting around this year, as well as the Haddocks, so thats a good sign, and the Lemonfishing is also picking up as they move their way west down the coast.
My old mate Andy on the 'Defiant' is out this way working along side us for the first time this year. He has teamed up with the 'Ocean Star' skippered by Bryan, who is normally based in Scotland, but due to the lack of days he is allowed to fish in the North Sea, he has come down this way to fish. They are having a few teething troubles in setting up the pair gear that they tow (its a larger net that the two boats tow instead of two smaller ones each) but I'm sure they'll get it working and it will be interesting to see what they catch.
We shall hopefully be in on thursday night for a quick turn around.
