Changing of the Guard
Published in Untagged by davidstevensAlec has had the boat away this week, the fishing has been fairly steady but they have had to move around a fair bit this trip as the fishing has been quite flighty. This can happen sometimes as the tide this week has cut very quickly which can make the fish move over the ground quick, but I'm glad to say the last 24 hrs has been better with some good hauls of haddocks and mixed prime.
It has been lovely ashore this week, but through the channel over the weekend it has been quite a strong easterly breeze which has made it a little more dificult at times. The outlook remains settled so here's hoping we have our summer here to stay for a while.
Over the last few weeks we have seen a (change in guard) by that i mean the usually large flock of gull's that we carry with us has been replaiced by a gang of fulmers. They are quite an amusing bird, I don't think they are the sharpest tools in the box, but with there chubby appearence and accident prone bumblings, they are making a pleasent change and because they have a job to balance on our hand rails I am glad to say the boat is not so messy as it usually is after the herring gull's have enjoyed thier cruise. I am not quite sure of the reason for this but it must have something to do with the mating season for the herring gulls or maybe they are on vacation.
