Big Fishing Off The Cornish Coast

Published in Untagged  by davidstevens

Fishing is a funny old game, after last week when we had the huge tide the fishing wasn't that easy and everywhere that we went we found it slack. This week, what a difference! Alec started his trip to the west of lands end then he moved out to the south of the scillies, he has had excellent fishing everywhere he's been. They have been seeing alot of smooth hounds as well as plentyof other fish that we usually catch, the lemons have come onto the ground, so have the megs and monk. There is also the usual amount of haddocks, lings and policks on the ground like we always see this time of year, we are not the only one's having good fishing, up the Bristol channel they are having one of the best sole seasons for many a year. This is great news for us in the south west, I know it's early days but when you have winters like this and there is record fishing everywhere you do think that at last the reductions in the fleet and the conservation measure's which have been so painful for the industry to imploment, (even though we knew it was the right way forward) are starting to work, so lets hope it continues this way.

The boat is due in tomorrow evening to land to PTA, consols will be down with the fuel and il get the grub, were hoping for a quick turn around again as the weather is looking settled fo a while longer yet.
