Crystal Sea Trawling Blog
Back in the loop
Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe landed our catch to pta on thursday night, after 3days fishing. The fishing was good again, we have been working southwest of the lizzard point by 25-35miles, we have been seeing quite a few haddocks, which have all been a good size and a nice few dorys. We had the navy onboard again last trip for a routine inspection again, but all was well.
We had to stop in on Friday as we hada lot of jobs to catch up on. Selex were down to fit a new fax machine so i'll be able to fax home in the week again now with our box counts and the blog. We really missed not being able to fax home this week, its amazing how much you just take this technoligy for granted now. Flossy was also down to do the electrick work needed, we had to have 4 new batteries on the main lighting bank replaced as they were flat and were not holding a charge, he also fitted up some fans in the cabins, as in the summer its boiling down below. Last year we had to sleep on deck a few times as it was unbearable down below and last year was a cool summer.
We are hoping to sail tomorrow morning, as it has been quite windy today, but the outlook is good for next week after this blow. The Tranquility is back fishing alongside us this week after his trip up to the smalls to catch prawns, he going to stick to the whitefish for a few weeks. The pair team have also been alongside us working, they work by towing one large net between the two of them and they tow about a quarter of a mile apart with long lengths of rope between themselves and the net to herd the fish into it. They have been fishing well with some good hauls of haddocks at times.
