Published in Untagged by davidstevensWe arrived back in Newlyn on sunday afternoon after a four day steam from macduff. We had a good run down and we were lucky enough to get the tide right in the north channel and we once again reached over 14knots. There was a large spring tide over the weekend, which we tried to use to our advantage on the steam down. In some places we got it right but in other places it was quite slow going, onething is for sure, the UK has some of the strongest tidal currents in the world and it pays to be moving with the tide.
We passed the longships lighthouse about lunchtime on sunday, it was low water as we passed and with it being such a low tide and a high pressure, we seen quite a few rocks that we wouldn't normally see. Once we got into Newlyn, we took ice, then loaded up our nets and took on the store's and by 2000hrs we headed back to sea to start fishing once again.
