A Quiet Spell
Published in Untagged by davidstevensThe boat is due back in this evening, Alec has had the boat away this week and with the tide cutting he headed off to the southwest. He has had good fishing again, with a nice few boxes of megrim and monk fish, so our new all purpose flat fish nets seem to be working well.
We ordered a couple of these new design nets when we were up in scotland, they have slightly less net in what wecall the fishing circle, which is the area of the net that gives you the lift from the seabed, but they have longer wing ends which helps in taking bottom fish like megrims and monk. So they are no harder to tow than our old nets as what they have in wingend spread they don't have in lift, but with the modern design that they have we are still seeing as much float fish, like whittens and haddocks as we did with our older higher lift nets.
We have quite a few jobs to do tonight so we maybe in for a few hours to get the work done. The hydrolic pump went down on us for the fish conveyor, so we have to sort that out, luckilly dougy from R & D will be down and we have to replace a set of sweeps that are past there best. But with the weather remaining settled we are hoping to be away later this evening.
Also my freinds the seagulls a abscent once again, they are really missing out to with plenty of gut on the go and a fine spell of weather to enjoy, but hey if your having fun elsewhere guys, don't rush back.
